Interlaced Hands Oct. 2009 We are all unique, We are all connected... Inspired by the beuatifully patterned and rich drawing and wood engravings of artist M.C. Escher, students created complex designs in which they incorporated a drawing of their hand, a ribbon and a patterned back space. The hand symbolizes our uniqueness as individuals, each our special hand prints. In many artworks the hands often represent the person. The ribbon enters and leaves the composition in the exact same location, and thus connects all the students' drawings in an endless, interlaced, waving thread of connection.
