Sketchbook Assignment

Competency 1: Creates Personal Images

1.       During this term you are to select 6 (or more…) of the following drawing assignments

2.      You are to draw in your sketchbook using a pencil or a black pen

3.      You are to use the entire page – one project per page…

4.      Please title each drawing, sign and date

5.      Please note – you might need to bring your sketchbook home for some of the assignments – you will need to ask permission to do so and must return book to class every session

6.      If you neglect to return book on time – your will only be able to select assignments that can be done in class

Assignments:

Who are you?

·         Draw your Self -portrait

·         Draw  where you live, outside view

·         Draw the inside of your locker

·         Draw your room – interior design

·         Draw your grandparent

·         Draw your parent

·         Draw your pet

·         Draw a friend or a sibling

·         Draw a comfortable chair

·         Draw a familiar spot to relax

·         Draw your room “the way you like it”

·         Draw your personal accessories

 

You’re Anatomy:

·         Draw your hand in multiple positions

·         Draw your hand holding a variety of objects

·         Draw your hand against a wall/ chair

·         Use a mirror – draw only your eyes / mouth / nose / ear

 

Use your Imagination:

·         Draw what is in the rear-view mirror of a car

·         Draw a dead bird in a beautiful landscape

·         Draw a flower growing next to a garbage can

·         Draw a piece of cake and make it look delicious

·         Draw 2 eggs in the shell, fried and broken

·         Draw something floating

·         Draw your own most fabulous candy bar

·         Draw your greatest fear…

·         Draw a moment when you are really angry

·         Draw a happy moment that happened to you in the past year

 

Try a Different Perspective:

·         Draw an object looking through a tube

·         Draw an object reflecting in a mirror

·         Draw an object through glass – how does the glass make it different

·         Be an ant – describe and draw what you would see

·         Be a giraffe – draw how things would look from above

 

 

A sketchbook is a wonderful tool artists use to collect and recollect ideas, thoughts, inventions and observations.

It is used for trying out options and solutions, studying a specific theme and testing your ideas.

One may draw, paint, collage and more in one's sketchbook... glue photographs, magazine clippings, pieces of fabrics or found objects...
